Congratulations on your new bundle of joy! This is an exciting time as you welcome your baby, but it can also feel overwhelming as you adjust to this new chapter. One significant change may be how your body feels, with unfamiliar aches and pains that you’ve never experienced before.
Below you’ll find information about the changes of your body during postpartum and general postpartum recovery tips for the first six months. It’s common to want to jump back into your old exercise routine, but remember, your body has changed tremendously. Just as with any other injury needing a surgery, it’s important to take the time to rehabilitate your muscles and help yourself recover fully in this new chapter called postpartum.
About your Doctor of Physical Therapy:
I am Dr. Susan Miller, a licensed physical therapist practicing in Denver, CO. I earned my Doctor of Physical Therapy from Regis University, with training in general orthopedic conditions and a specialization in pelvic floor dysfunction for women. I received foundational training for pelvic floor muscle evaluation and treatment from the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. I proudly belong to the Pelvic Global Health Alliance, enabling me to connect with passionate providers and fitness professionals in women’s and pelvic health. My treatment philosophy revolves around viewing individuals holistically, considering the connection between the mind and body. I develop personalized treatment plans that focus on functional goals, ranging from walking around the block to running a marathon. Providing one-on-one, individualized care, I collaborate with my patients to meet your unique needs.
